TCIG Resumes Dog Licensing Sept 1

As of September 1, 2012, the Animal Health Services Division in the Department of Agriculture will resume the licensing of dogs and increase the trapping of strays.
The Division has improved the registration process and will be providing microchips free of charge throughout September or for as log as stocks last.
Licensing is one of the methods the Department employs to promote and protect human and animal safety. Remember, the license lasts for one year and the law limits ownership to three dogs per household. Download the

Animal Health Services
The Animal Health Services is the division of the Department of Agriculture that is responsible for animal disease surveillance and monitoring, veterinary public health, import and export controls, animal welfare and control. Animal Health Services currently has three units: Import/Export Unit, Animal Welfare Unit and Inspection Unit for Plant and Animal Health

With a view to modernize, upgrade, standardize and enhance the somewhat outdated plant quarantine system, its capacities and the related legal and administrative framework, the Turks and Caicos Islands Government, Department of Agriculture (TCIG DOA) has recently submitted a new ´Plant Health Bill´ to the legislative branch of government for deliberation and subsequent enactment.
